Have you noticed age spots on your relatives or even on yourself? The spots themselves are harmless, but their cause is not.
Immediate countermeasures should be required:
Unfortunately, the overaged (senescent) cells have marked on their surface in such a way that the body can (and should) recognize them as »old«. In times of massive energy surplus (marked especially by IGF-1, i.e. carbohydrate- and protein-rich, frequent eating) they still stay alive. Foolishly, in modern society, this state often lasts a lifetime. But it doesn't have to (and shouldn't) be that way:
When the body now enters a state of energy deficiency (due to a lot of exercise or fasting), cells of the immune system swarm out and specifically search for cells that have marked themselves as »old«. They then dissolve these cells from the outside (known as autophagy), break them down into their constituent parts, and make them available to the body as building material for cells that are currently dividing.
By the way, a 5-day fasting mimicry diet is a good choice as a fasting diet to follow on a regular basis (details elsewhere in my patients handbook or in the book mentioned below). However, pure water fasting, in contrast, should only take place under medical supervision. Please contact me for support with both types of fasting.
If you want to achieve the same effect through sports, this is the worse approach then fasting. You would have to use up basically all energy reserves of your liver (glucose depletion), for which many, many hours of sport would be necessary. Thereby you release however again oxidative stress, which is harmful for your stem cells (details in my sport recommendations). So go with the fasting!
