If you want to be seen by a doctor who spends more time with you, listens well, and treats you with functional-based medicine and conventional pharmaceuticals (if needed), then a concierge doctor is for you.
Concierge physicians like Dr. Gersch only see a few patients per day. This way they can provide the most comprehensive care to them. Office appointments take place without a long waiting time. Also, after office hours Dr. Gersch is available via email or for house visits to serve his patients.
The first intake is an in-depth exploration of your symptoms, past medical history, family history, habits, and diet. Dr. Gersch will ask many questions most regular doctors usually don't since he wants to understand:
Dr. Gersch will also perform any necessary diagnostic physical exams and look over any labs from past practitioners that you may have brought to get a better picture of your current state of wellness.
Once he gathers the necessary information, Dr. Gersch will formulate an individualized & personalized treatment for you. Dr. Gersch may also recommend additional essential lab work or more-advanced lab work to get a better understanding of your current state of health.
Making a house call is an old-school approach to practicing medicine, but a service that is coming back into style for concierge physicians like Dr. Gersch. Put simply, a house call brings the office to you, so you don't have to make the trip. This option is especially important for patients that cannot make it to a doctor's office for any reason. They may be elderly or infirm, for example.
What should you expect when the doctor makes a house call? A house call will be very similar to an office visit. The doctor will assess your condition, check your vital signs and do an exam. He may take blood samples and write an ECG as well. Making house calls give your doctor the opportunity to strengthen the bond by making your medical care more personal.
Consultations are billed based on the German fee schedule for physicians (Gebührenordnung für Ärzte). At your first appointment you will receive a detailed fee agreement. For a first 20 minute appointment, depending on possible examinations and type of consultation, usually € 140 to € 200 will be charged. For longer appointments there will be a similar charge for every 20 minutes.
Regarding advanced tab tests Dr. Gersch can tell you exactly what charge you may expect as you will receive a separate invoice from a lab company.
Dr. Gersch does not take insurance, but you will get a receipt to file for reimbursement. Dr. Gersch is not in-network with any health insurance plans and payment is due at the time of service. All major credit cards and debit cards will be accepted. You will receive an invoice ("superbill") receipt to file a claim with your insurance company to request reimbursement for any services they cover.
Both German private insurances, travel insurances, Aetna and Tricare will accept such an invoice for reimbursement while German social insurance such as Barmer, BKK or Techniker will not.
Consults will be applied to your out-of-network deductible and not everything may be covered. Many of the blood work lab tests are reimbursable by most major insurance plans.
