If you eat (very) low carb for a long period of time, then you may experience the phenomenon known as physiological insulin resistance: You have your fasting blood glucose measured and a doctor would diagnose you with »prediabetes« at a blood glucose level of, say, 110 mg/dl. If you have been eating low carb for a very long time, they will also be able to measure an elevated HbA1c level in you. With this »long term blood sugar level«, a doctor may believe you are prediabetic even more. He may even want to start treating you like a diabetic. If you have been eating strictly low-carb, then the reason is more likely to be lying in that fact.
