Estrogen is much more than just a female sex hormone. It plays a central role in both sexes, including in fat and sugar metabolism, as a growth factor, and in bone metabolism. In addition, of course, it has its well-known effect on the female organism by turning women into adults and preparing their bodies for pregnancy.
