Alcohol itself has calories, so it contributes to energy intake. However, alcohol itself has no carbohydrates, so it is not contraindicated per se during a (very) low-carb diet or nutritive ketosis. Arguably, however, a large proportion of all alcoholic beverages consumed have a relevant carbohydrate content and should therefore be avoided.
