Vitamin A has such a pronounced effect on our organism that retinols are specifically used in cancer therapy. Besides against a special form of leukemia (APL), vitamin A can also be used there in a supportive way against certain types of cancer from squamous cells, for example against cervical cancer. It also prevents the development of skin tumors caused by the rare disease xeroderma pigmentosum. If vitamin A works so well against these serious diseases, then you should try not to become deficient in it in the first place (because usually only cancer patients benefit from additional vitamin A who were previously lacking).
